Candida treatment protocol basics

If you have been diagnosed with Candida overgrowth [or think you may have it], it can be a challenge to get it under control without the right guidance. There is more to Candida treatment than simply keeping the yeast from overgrowing. You also need to work to restore the balance of good and bad bacteria in the microbiome that helps keep Candida in check to begin with. And, lastly, you'll want to repair the leaky gut damage it has caused to the intestines so that the Candida [and anything else, for that matter] can no longer enter your bloodstream and wreak havoc on your immune system. Here's my 3-step protocol for addressing Candida:

Get the Candida under control:

You, first, want to starve the Candida by removing the foods that feed it from your diet. This means cutting all sugar and alcohol and limiting carbohydrates such as fruit, starchy vegetables, grains, and beans/legumes.

Kill-off the Candida:

While you're keeping the Candida from getting further out of control, you also want to kill-off the overgrowth that is already present. You can do this by taking supplements that destroy the Candida's cell walls. I use a specially formulated supplement from The New Human called Candida Complete which supports microbe balance in the GI tract and discourages the growth of yeast as well. Caprylic Acid is another great supplement found in coconut oil or supplement capsules that creates an inhospitable environment for the yeast and can also penetrate its cell walls.

Replenish the good gut bacteria:

Lastly, you'll want to repopulate your gut with good bacteria using a high-potency probiotic to keep Candida under control. I recommend a probiotic supplement containing 100 billion colony-forming units [CFUs] to restore your gut's healthy microbial balance.
